Scholarship Program Overview
“Let’s look at where the vaults of opportunity are -
and let’s do our job of intentionally opening those vaults of opportunity and taking the door off the hinges.”
- Judge Joseph W. Hatchett
The Vaults of Opportunity Scholarship empowers highly motivated 9th-grade students from underserved communities with the resources and support needed to take their first steps toward college and career success. The funds are designed to assist students in preparing for college entrance exams -- a critical early hurdle on the path to academic achievement.
Each year, VOOS awards a select few Hatchett Scholars with $2,000, and recipients may use the funds to cover costs associated with preparing for the PSAT, SAT, and/or ACT. Eligible expenses include test registration, tutoring, test prep courses, and study materials. Any unused funds may be applied toward college tuition.
Inspired by the legacy of Judge Joseph W. Hatchett, our mission is to equip young minds with the tools to overcome barriers, unlock their potential, and build futures full of promise.
