Scholarship Eligibility & Requirements
To be considered for the Vaults of Opportunity Scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Be a current 9th grade student.
- Reside in and attend school in one of the following Florida counties: Broward, Palm Beach, or Pinellas.
- Demonstrate financial need.
- Be on track to become a first generation college student, or be from. Single parent household, or both.

Eligibility Details
- An applicant must already be a member and in good standing with a Boys & GirlsClub in Broward County, Palm Beach County or Pinellas County, or complete a separate application to become a member by April 30, 2025. A Free Boys & Girls Club membership may be available for applicants who meet the specified financial need requirements for this scholarship on page 7.
- Must be a high school freshman/9th grader at the time of your application and on track for promotion to 10th grade.
- Must be on track to be a first-generation college student and/or be in a single-parent household.
- Must demonstrate financial need; that is, applicant must be living in a household which earns less than 200 percent of the current federal poverty guidelines (Ex., a family of 2 earning less than $40,880; a family of 3 earning less than $51,640, a family of 4 earning less than $62,400, a family of 5 earning less than $73,160).
- Must be a US Citizen or hold a permanent resident visa card.
- Must submit all application materials listed below by 6:00p.m. ET on Wednesday, April 30, 2025
Application Details
- Application Questionnaire;
- Copy of transcript showing cumulative GPA;
- Resume or listing of clubs/activities/employment/community service, either of which should include all extracurricular activities the applicant participated in during high school including community, school, athletics and Boys & Girls Club activities and the honors received. (Please include the length of involvement and any offices held);
- Essays based upon detailed instructions on page 8;
- Two Letters of Recommendation (one letter must be from a teacher; the other may be from non-academic individuals such as a Boys & Girls Club Director or Program Manager; coaches; pastor; civic or political leaders; mentors).
